Digital becomes real: planning, building, and operating with BIM.

BIM (Building Information Modeling), i.e., the digitization of construction, is an approach we have for many years now used across all disciplines, from building and industrial construction to infrastructure and hydraulic construction. We are also involved in various working parties and associations, including BIM Hamburg, planen-bauen 4.0, buildingSMART, and BIM HUB Hamburg, so that we can continue to contribute to the development of BIM methods in future, too.

A central element of the methodology is a three-dimensional model of the structure, which is expanded to include additional dimensions with a wide range of information on material quality, static properties, costs, deadlines, construction processes, and logistics. This building information model guarantees a transparent planning process, coherent interfaces, and greater quality in planning.

The BIM model can be fine-tuned for the construction and operation of the building as well; it is then used as a “digital twin” – for example for actual/target comparisons, monitoring programs, or facility management. The model is also the basis for applications such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), which are playing an ever more significant role in decision-making and approval processes.
