Taking responsibility for our future.

Construction that is energy-efficient and conserves resources – that is our aspiration in every project. We not only want to shape tomorrow’s world with daring ideas, but also to protect our shared future and make it one that’s worth living.

With the trio of consulting, planning, and living, we strive to operate in a way that is as sustainable as possible on all levels for both us and our clients – after all, as consulting engineers we know that resources are finite and using them responsibly must therefore be our guiding principle.

Consulting: with sustainability in mind from start to finish.

We offer comprehensive consulting services from a single source, services designed to improve the sustainability performance of our clients and their construction projects. Our consulting services include the certification of new builds and existing edifices, concrete technology, maintenance, and optimization of structures. It is always our aim to support our clients on the path towards the utmost sustainability and implementing the most cost-effective and efficient engineering solution for them.

Optimization of structural designs
  • Selecting the ideal construction material
  • Innovative construction methods
  • Designing a direct vertical load transfer
  • Minimizing masses and component dimensions
GHG reduction strategies

We know which adjustments we need to make in order to reduce our clients’ carbon emissions over the entire life cycle of a project.

Advice on preserving existing buildings
  • Structural assessment
  • Building inspection
  • Building diagnostics
  • Monitoring
  • Maintenance and repair
Wood for load-bearing structures
  • Timber structures
  • Timber hybrid construction
  • Connecting compatible structures
  • Specialist timber construction engineers and carpenters in-house
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

Balancing the quantities of all building materials and components to assess the environmental impact of the building.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

We apply the three Rs to reduce quantities and to reuse or recycle building materials, components, and system components.

Concrete for load-bearing structures
  • Concrete engineers / concrete technologists
  • Environmentally friendly mixes
  • CO2-reduced concrete
  • Recycled concrete
  • Regional availability
  • Carbon concrete
Life Cycle Costs (LCC)

Calculating the costs for operation, maintenance, repair, modernization, and demolition of a building.

Building certification
  • Pre-check and audit for DGNB certification
  • QNG sustainable building certification
  • DGNB consultant and DGNB auditor in-house

Planning for the future: our sustainable projects.

In our work for our clients, we focus on sustainable planning and implementation in every project: for example, using wood and timber hybrid construction, creative solutions for support during construction, recycled building materials, the optimal choice of binder for concrete, and load-bearing structures that are appropriate for the building materials and stresses. And, before any new construction, we check at an early stage whether maintenance and repair would not be the better, more sustainable option. What do our clients get from this? The optimal balance of economy, ecology, and social responsibility.

WESTFIELD HAMBURG-ÜBERSEEQUARTIER

The first major project with the DGNB certificate for sustainable construction sites. All the buildings likewise boast sustainability certification.

ELBX RIVER-CROSSING STRUCTURE

The 5.2 km shield tunnel under the Elbe conveys green electricity to southern Germany via SuedLink cables – a core infrastructure project for the Energy Transition.

TIMBER HYBRID HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS

Recycled concrete, a timber hybrid structure: These high-rise buildings set new standards in terms of sustainability.

CCH REVITALIZATION

The revitalization of the CCH Hamburg exhibition, conference, and event center was awarded DGNB Gold certification for its ecological, technical, and social sustainability.

EXPANSION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The new U5 Hamburg subway line is currently the biggest subway project in Germany and is setting standards in terms of climate protection.

MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Thanks to a sustainably executed upgrade, U1 Berlin subway line’s elevated steel rail viaduct dating from 1902 is now ready for a further 50 years in service.

MORINGA C2C RESIDENTIAL HIGH-RISE

The pioneering project of climate-friendly, resource-conserving construction at Hamburg’s Baakenhafen planned and built according to the cradle-to-cradle principle.

VEJA MATE OFFSHORE WINDPARK

450,000 German households are supplied with green power from the North Sea – which saves around 18 million tons of CO2 emissions.

We live sustainability.

We not only communicate our sustainable approach through our projects, but internally, too, we take responsibility for our environment.
For many years, we have been improving our own eco-footprint with everyday measures, fostering the health of our team with company sports programs, living diversity and equal opportunities on a daily basis, and committing ourselves at all levels to a society worth living in – today, tomorrow, and beyond.

Health and safety

As our SCL certification proves, the health and safety of our team are hugely important to us and are an integral part of our corporate culture.

Deutschlandticket

We actively encourage purchase of the Deutschlandticket public transport pass for our teams – and thus support sustainable mobility.

Social commitment

We are aware of our social responsibility, and we support social welfare projects through regular donations and encourage our teams in their various commitments.

A strong and sporty team

In-company yoga courses, joint participation in company runs, and sporting events: We actively engage in shared physical activity as part of daily life.

Family-friendly company

Compatibility of work and family life: For us, it’s a given. And we’ve been awarded the Hamburg Family Seal for our efforts here.

Sustainable mobility

We rely on bicycles: With parking spaces, maintenance facilities, changing rooms, and company bicycles, we support a healthy and environmentally friendly means of transport.

Planting campaigns

We put our green fingers to use, taking part in planting campaigns that benefit our Hamburg location.

Diversity and equal opportunities

As a company, we fly the flag for equality, diversity, and tolerance.

Upskilling and training

Under the umbrella of WTM Engineers EDU, we offer a wide range of upskilling and training courses for all phases and requirements of professional life.
