Wheat mill Hamm
Expansion of the production facility to include a new mill building and a pellet hopper silo – new storage volume of 960 tons
On the grounds of the Jäckering company in Hamm, directly adjacent to the Datteln-Hamm Canal, the existing facilities needed to be expanded for starch extraction significantly. The new build comprises a mill building with seven floor sections where the equipment will be located, along with various silos for a large variety of silo cells – for starch, brans (loose and pelleted), flour and grains – for both storage and direct onward loading. As part of the new build project, existing structures on site had to be dismantled. This was taking place as a staggered process parallel to construction of the new build. The new building will be a reinforced concrete structure made in four slipform stages with two vertical joints. It will rest on pile foundations, whereby the foundation base will be jointless. On completion, the mill will boast a footprint of about 30 x 50 metres and will be 40 metres high. Directly next to it, a truck pellet hopper is being erected with a total of ten cells. This section will likewise be 40 metres high.
A digital twin was created for the entire project (buildings and equipment) which, from the outset, has been updated as work progresses and contains all the relevant data including sections for each of the specialist disciplines on-boarded for the project. This central model thus provides a swift overview of the status of all measures as well as in-depth information for the detailed planning.
