WTM Architectural Engineering Prize 2020

Preisträger Timo van der Horst und Geschäftsführer Alexander Steffens.

This year’s presentation of the WTM Architectural Engineering Prize took place on February 10, 2021 against the backdrop of the Port of Hamburg. In accordance with coronavirus regulations, the prize was presented under open skies and with few in attendance in a location just a stone’s throw away from HafenCity University and from WTM Engineers’ Hamburg office. That said, the engineering firm and the HCU share a whole lot more than similar locations. It was back in its tenth year that WTM Engineers launched its 2,000-euro prize to support outstanding up-and-coming engineers. The winner in 2020 was Timo van der Horst for his M.Sc. thesis entitled “Analysis of the post-cracking behavior of composite glass with bulge tests”. WTM Engineers’ Managing Director Dr. Alexander Steffens presented him with a certificate along with best wishes for his future professional life.

Fostering talent among young engineers is something we care deeply about, hence we also support committed, high-performing students with our Germany bursary and internal master’s scholarship.
