September 1 saw the official opening of the European XFEL, the world’s fastest, most efficient X-ray laser. Our planning team celebrated the superlative project together with high-level representatives from politics, technology, and science. The reliability with which planning and construction were conducted and the pioneering research opportunities the facility offers received special mention in the addresses. The planning and construction of the XFEL were an extraordinary assignment for our planners. Our engineers worked very closely with the scientists in order to transfer the physical requirements into built structures.
Having been involved from the initial idea, we are delighted to have brought the project to a successful conclusion.
