Topping-out ceremony for the EcoMaT research and development center

The flagship project takes shape.

The Center for Eco-efficient Materials & Technologies or EcoMaT is currently being realized at Bremen’s Airport City and is destined to bundle expertise in business and science in the field of lightweight technologies. The topping-out ceremony for the new building, whose footprint is approximately 22,000 square meters, was held on Friday, May 25. This innovation hub, a project of the Hanseatic City of Bremen, Airbus and other partners, is scheduled to open in spring 2019. Some 500 experts are already looking forward to moving to the center, where the focus will be on interdisciplinary work under a single roof.

Since 2013 WTM Engineers has been responsible for the building planning and structural planning of the excavation pit, the structural planning of the building construction, and the thermal building physics.
