Topping-out ceremony for residential and commercial ensemble at Humboldthafen

Europacity in Berlin continues to grow.

The shell of the ensemble at Humboldthafen has now been completed. On September 27 this first project milestone was celebrated in a ceremony attended by the Senate Building Director and State Secretary for Urban Development of Berlin, Regula Lüscher. On this sunny fall day the developers LIP Ludger Inholte Projektentwicklung and ABG Allgemeine Bauträgergesellschaft invited guests to the site in the immediate vicinity of Berlin’s central railway station. The buildings lining the river are likely to be ready for occupancy in the first half of 2019. Covering a total area of 43,000 square meters, the buildings will provide 188 rental apartments, office, retail and restaurant spaces. A single-story underground garage will accommodate 170 vehicles.

For this project WTM Engineers was responsible for planning the excavation pit, the structural planning of the buildings and the thermal building physics.
