IPA project “3 Schools Bremerhaven”

New primary school Lehe.

New secondary school Lehe.

New school complex Hamburger Strasse.

Last Friday, an interdisciplinary jury voted on how planning was to proceed for three new schools in Bremerhaven. Since WTM Engineers is responsible for all the structural engineering, we are a member of the IPA team. IPA stands for Integrated Project Alliance. What is noteworthy about this project is that it is the first German IPA construction project in the public sector. The relevant team consists of the clients, architects, planning consultants and construction companies working in a multiparty contract. The objective of a constellation of this nature is to achieve goals set as part of the process of handling the project and to guarantee that input from the relevant parties produces the best possible results.
For each of the three schools, the alliance team had come up with two variants of the design and had presented them to the relevant decision-making body. For each location a consensus was reached and a follow-up design chosen. Following the jury’s decision, the team is now on schedule for the next planning phase, culminating in the building applications.
The clients’ press release is available here.
