Follow-Up Contract for Fehmarnbelt Tunnel

WTM still closely involved in one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects.

As part of the joint venture consortium comprising Rambøll, ARUP, and TEC, WTM Engineers was successful in the tendering procedure for the follow-up contract to act as consultant to the developer Femern A/S. Alongside providing the developer with advice on all ongoing processes, the contract includes inspection of the plans drawn up by the construction companies, and on-site construction supervision.

The project involves the construction of a planned 18-kilometer tunnel between the German island of Fehmarn and the Danish island of Lolland; it will be the world’s longest immersed tunnel for a four-lane autobahn with hard shoulder and a two-track railroad. The maximum construction budget, which has been approved by Denmark, totals approx. EUR 7.4 billion, with completion scheduled for 2028.
