WTM Engineers is proud to be part of one of the prequalified teams for the development plan for the “Byen til Vandet” – the “City to the Water” in Randers, Denmark. The recently-launchedcompetition addresses several challenges regarding the city’s further development. General as well as local effects of rising water levels due to global warming require solutions for low-lying areas of the city. In addition, roads and infrastructure form obstacles in the cityscape and need to be overcome. Randers municipality aims at turning those challenges into advantages to the benefit of the city's present and future residents. Developing urban areas by integrating recreational functions into the waterside location will surely form an asset to the city’s image.
A total of 18 teams with both national and international experts have applied to become part of the parallel competition. Three expert teams have passed the prequalification. WTM Engineers is part of the successful team EFFEKT with Effekt Arkitekter ApS, Cassøe Frost Borchmann ApS, Trafik Plan ApS, Konsulent "Fru Andersen", ISC Rådgivende Ingeniører A/S, and Nordicals Erhvervsmæglere Randers.
We are looking forward to developing innovative flood protection, climate adaption, and water front structures for another Danish municipality.
