The STUVA Conference 2025 in Hamburg was a great success for WTM Engineers. With around 25 employees attending, the company was very well represented – and our featured projects and presentations also made it hard to miss. The setting for the conference was the CCH, which was renovated and modernized with the help of WTM Engineers and proved the perfect place to host the approximately 2,500 tunnel construction experts who came to the event.
One of the main highlights was the new Hamburg U5 underground line, which we played a key role in planning. The project was awarded the STUVA Prize 2025 – a special acknowledgement and a tribute to the engineering excellence and high degree of innovation involved in this important project for the expansion of sustainable transport infrastructure.
Across three technically high-level lectures, our colleagues presented pioneering technological solutions in tunnel construction. In addition to the U5, our other featured projects were ElbX, the SuedLink Elbe crossing, and the Elbe tunnel for the district remote heating link to the Port of Hamburg. Beyond the professional highlights, the conference once again offered plenty of scope for exchange, networking, and inspiration.
The conference also saw fresh elections for the STUVA-YEP Steering Committee – a network of young experts that brings fresh impetus to the industry. With our colleague Daniel Görg on the committee, WTM Engineers is actively represented here too.
We came away from the conference inspired – and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
