September 9, 2025, saw a significant milestone celebrated in Hamburg’s HafenCity: It marked the topping-out ceremony for the Moringa new-build project, which is Germany’s first residential high-rise to be realized entirely according to the cradle-to-cradle principle. The pioneering construction project constitutes a significant turning point in sustainable urban development – and we’re delighted to be playing a key part in this flagship project.
By 2026, an urban ensemble will have taken shape with around 220 rental apartments, offering not only communal spaces, childcare facilities, and a hospitality area, but also – and most importantly – a living environment that takes social and ecological factors into account.
The cradle-to-cradle principle stands for a consistently circular method of construction whereby the materials can be separated by type and reused – an approach that is setting the trend in the construction industry. We are therefore all the prouder that we were able to provide the structural planning and thus play a part in the successful implementation of this ambitious concept.
Moringa is not only an architecturally striking building, but also a symbol of the responsibility that we as planners, developers, and cities together bear – for the environment, for people, and for the future of our cities.
