Speeding up large-scale construction projects

Dr. Morgen participates in panel discussion.

On September 19, 2018, Berlin hosted a Dialog to Accelerate Large-Scale Construction Projects. Roughly 170 high-ranking participants from the field of planning and construction took part in the event. The contributions and discussions focused on various topics related to the goal of realizing more construction projects in the field of waterway infrastructure.

As a representative of the planning & engineering office, Dr. Karl Morgen took part in the panel discussion in which members debated the current situation and possible solutions. Dr. Morgen put the emphasis on constructive cooperation and a decisive organizational culture on the part of the client. He also drew attention to how the construction process could be positively influenced by high-quality planning. Similarly, Gabriele Peschken from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) took up this idea in her talk “Erst Planen dann Bauen – BIM in der WSV” (Plan first, then build – BIM in the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration, WSV). She illustrated the potential for change in WSV projects using “Building Information Modeling.” Finally, participants appraised the other ideas and specific solutions proposed in an interactive survey. Here the focus was in particular on efficient project management as well as simpler contracts and contract processing.
