On April 16, we joined the commissioning client, the planners, and the construction companies involved at the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Zentralklinik Ostfriesische Meere, a new health facility being developed in Südbrookmerland in the Aurich district. Numerous attendees from the worlds of politics, administration, and medicine likewise gathered at the construction site, where work has already been underway for seven months. The foundation work is largely complete, and construction corporation LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG is currently erecting the first shell structures. The client commissioning the 115,000 m² new-build clinic is the company that operates the entire facility, Kliniken Aurich-Emden-Norden mbH.
The construction of the new central clinic, which will accommodate around 800 beds, will ensure from 2029 onwards that East Frisia enjoys secure healthcare provision for the long term and in line with the latest medical standards. We are proud to be working with our planning partner Ingenieurberatung Bröggelhoff GmbH to make an important contribution to maintaining healthcare operations in this region. Together, we are responsible for the structural engineering and excavation planning. The architectural design was developed by gmp (von Gerkan, Marg und Partner) and WES LandschaftsArchitektur.
