Once a year, the Hamburg branch of WTM Engineers swaps the office for the construction site.
Last week, 130 employees set off on missions to visit six of our projects and get an idea of the construction challenges as well as the sometimes very impressive solutions up close.
Probably the most impressive projects include the now completed Westfield-Überseequartier and the mega-infrastructure project that is the new U5 subway line; no less spectacular examples include the building construction projects in Mönckebergstrasse and two developments for SAGA in Hermannstal and Weddestrasse. The longest journey was made by the group visiting the repair of two subway bridges and a retaining wall in Volksdorf.
In keeping with tradition, the day spent visiting construction sites ended with a barbecue on our roof terrace – and this time there was an extraordinary backdrop: As part of Blue Port Hamburg, the entire port was bathed in blue light.
