Roughly one year after the laying of the foundation stone on May 23, 2019 the topping-out wreath was raised on the Springer Quarter building site. Client the MOMENI Group and planner celebrated this milestone together with the Chief Planning Director of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg along with 800 invited guests.
The project on the former site occupied by the publisher Axel Springer includes the refurbishment and modernization of the listed 14-storey high-rise and a construction of a new modern complex. Offices, apartments, retail stores and restaurants will be realized on some 60,000 m² of gross ground area. A three-level underground garage will be housed beneath the new building. A particular challenge was presented by the complex waterproof trough that is up to 9 meters deep and is located in the immediate vicinity of the 50-meter-tall Springer high-rise.
WTM Engineers were responsible for the structural planning for the conversion and the new building and also for the building and structural planning of the excavation pit.
